This special webinar will begin at 1030h AEST with an optional half-hour discussion of current terminology related to gender, sex, and identity. With that clarity established, your host, Dr. Chris Thurber, will welcome two special guests at 1100h AEST: Christina Breen, Deputy Head of Boarding at Phillips Exeter Academy and HM of an all-gender dorm, and Michael Garcia, graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and current student at Princeton University. The trio will discuss the origins of all-gender boarding houses (aka dormitories) at Exeter, the politics and public perception of this innovation, the practicalities of running an all-gender boarding house, and the ups and downs of living in an all-gender boarding house. Dr. Thurber, Ms. Breen, and Mr. Garcia will encourage audience participation in the discussion, the goal of which is to share perspectives, not prescribe a particular pathway.
